Hi Everybody,

Fixtures Section news for week ending 20th May.

Senior Championship Game v Ballymun.

We shared your disappointment with the result of last night’s game. A great first half and all we can say in that overall ‘your gave your all’ and what more can we say. Keep it up and your day will come. Ollie T. Has judged Jack S. - His man of the match. We will always support you in your efforts in any way we can.

Lads, we have a bit of a problem. With only a few days (5 in fact) to go before Mel and pal Michael, set off in their great adventure to check out whether or not the Royal Canal meets the Mighty Shannon – we were wondering what the weather is going to be like. Have any of you any ideas of that the forecast is? If it is going to be ‘bad’ – don’t tell anyone but if it is going to be glorious, well then we will announce that detail. Another thing, ladies this time, can you tell us what ‘leg waxing is’? Tell you why – there is a girl which some of you will meet, coming from New Zealand who did a fundraising event (doing whatever this is) for CRY and Sarah Murphy is her name. Sarah’s brother, Padraic, died suddenly from sudden cardiac and this is how Sarah raised much needed funds. What do you reckon, ladies? Sounds very interesting and we must get to the bottom of this type of venture or should be say ‘adventure’? Can you brief one of us on all the details?

Told you already that the Magnificent 7 has reached Lucky 13 and CRY have thanked us on their Facebook page. Thanks Jennie – Our Great Leader – hard work, we know, you are all very special and everyone appreciates all your efforts.

You wanted to know more about Jacqui Hurley’s wedding. Well it is taking place in Cork on 2nd June. A delayed honeymoon in order to take part in the Cork Marathon on 4th and so 26 of them weddingers are doing a relay of the 26 mile race. Jacqui’s brother, Sean, died in a road accident last year but before he died his Mum and Sean were talking about what he would like to do with his ‘life’. Running a marathon was high on his ‘bucket list’. If you would like to read more about CRY and things like that, please log onto www.cry.ie.

Games for the coming week are;

Forthcoming Fixtures.

Tuesday 22nd May.

Junior Hurling Championship v St. Maurs in Finglas at 7.15

Wednesday 23rd May.

Senior Hurling Championship v N. Olafs in Finglas at 7.15

Saturday 26th May.

Senior Hurling League v Round Towers in Finglas at 6.15

Sunday 27th May.

Junior Hurling League v Plunketts in Finglas at 11

Tuesday 29th May.

Inter Football League v St. Judes in Finglas at 7.15

Wednesday 30th May.

Senior Football League v St. Peregrines in Finglas at 7.15

Junior Football v St. Anns in Bohernabreena at 7.15

Best wishes to all involved in this weekend’s Feile. Maybe you would like to relax and join us in watching the foreign games on our big screens. Maybe a bit of food left over from the Feile which we could use up too.

Hi everybody,

Latest news from Fixtures section on Wednesday 16th May.

Please come and support our Senior Football Team in their mighty task in overcoming one of the best teams in the whole Country. Throw in is at 6.45 in Parnell Park. This is a huge test – first real championship game of the season 2012 and you will be delighted to see all these dedicated young giving their best. We remember our last senior final, in Parnell, – was that 5 years ago with the Inters – and that gust of wind at the end – ask NMcC to fill you in on this if you don’t know what we mean. This is another ‘final’....... Have you heard the news about who has been picked to carry the Olympic Torch – a young man from our Junior Team? Tell you later who ‘JC’ is.

The countdown continues for the ‘Great Walk Along Water’ – just over a week before Mel’s adventure begins. Mel is so grateful for your sponsorship and reckons that your willingness to help made his task very easy in raising much needy funds.

The plans for the Feile are being finalised – The volunteers are going to bed early on Friday as they have to be up bright an’ early on Saturday morning. Come and support them if you can. Going to be a long day – the final game starts at 3.30pm and then we hope to have a little get-together after setting up the Hall for the evening function.

Well done to the JET’s – big numbers of them were training last night and ‘tis unbelievable’ the way they are buzzing around and above the grounds. And bringing their beautiful babies too – does the heart good to see such enthusiasm. Apologies for not being there on Thursday for the noodles. So far CRY has had great support for the Mini Marathon. Did we ever tell you about CRY’s Sporting Ambassadors? Remember our one for the GAA – Ger Brennan who wore our colours last November when the two Sam’s visited the Club – well Jacqui Hurley is the Athletics Ambassador – and is a great sports presenter with RTE. Jacqui usually runs in the race too but is getting married on the Saturday before, but what is she going to do instead. Go on have a guess. We will tell you later – have to announce the forthcoming fixtures for the weekend. There is only one at the moment;

Minor Hurling v Round Towers in Clondalkin at 11pm next Sunday. This team is doing exceptionally well and this will be their final game until after the exams.

Anyway, we wish Elaine all the best for a speedy recovery but come back to the shoppie when you are fully fit again.

And, the Olympic Torch bearer is John Collins and we will try to kit out John in his Erins Isle Jersey for the big day. Congratulations to John on being selected for this great honour.

About Jacqui. It’s all about Jacqui, new husband and team who are going to delay their honeymoon and do the Cork Marathon on the same day as our Mini. Why? Well, that is for a very special reason which we will tell you about in a later bulletin, because it is very touching. Actually Jacqui is not going to run the whole of the route herself – the team are going to run a special type relay and raise funds for CRY in that way. Of course they had to get special permission for this venture and just goes to show how wonderful people are. Thing is..... will Jacqui be wearing her wedding dress. What do you reckon?

For those of you that don't already know, Luke Kelly tribute band Legend of Luke Kelly will be performing for one night only in the Club on Saturday the 23rd June next. What's to be said about Luke Kelly RIP that hasn't already been said. The man was an absolute musical genius and this tribute act have been honouring him and paying tribute to him for a number of years now.

Legend_of_Luke_Kelly

They have toured with the Dubliners and lead singer Chris has sung as Luke Kelly with the Dubliners - some honour that. They have sold out everywhere they play and we expect that our own great Club will be no different.

Priced at €10 a ticket the fundraising committee feel that this provides massive value for money but warn you all that tickets have already sold very quickly and all are reminded to buy early to avoid disappointment.

Tickets can be purchased from any member of the Fundraising or Executive Committees. See you all there for the session!

If you are a user of Google Chrome as your internet website browser then you might want to deck it out in your club colours. It's the first time that we've done this but we like the results and may do more. You can now use "The Isles Theme" as your Google Chrome theme.

Hi everybody,

Fixtures news for week beginning 14th May.

When did the ‘Magnificent 7’ become the Magnificent ?????. Go on have a guess, and read on to get the new total. The countdown is continuing for the Great Canal Walk Along Water – only 11 days to go before Mel starts the walk proper. By the way Mel will be accompanied by his pal from Ballyboden – yes one of them – Michael O’Shea and they should have great crac learning all about their different Clubs, discussing past experiences etc and this will keep their minds off some of the pain and the suffering. You are going to get loads of info as the struggle continues and of course you can join them for parts of the walk if you so wish. They will be give us up to the minute info on their location (Twittering and Facebooking) and we have put the whole detailed itinerary on the New Forum section of the Club web site – you can just click onto that page and get a more or less instant idea of where they are on that particular day. If Frank can arrange an accompanying ambulance he will join Mel for the last leg and hope that this won’t be his last venture for the Club. Mel and Michael will be staying (night of 27th) in the ‘Rustic Inn’ in Abbeyshrule and if you fancy staying there for the last leg (hopefully not the last legs), Edward the Innkeeper will arrange for you to be picked up at the nearest railway station - Edwardstown. We will put up the train timetable on the New Forum. Edwards has reserved two double rooms for the Club.

There are three great fixtures this coming week;

Tuesday 15th.

Senior Camogie v Lucan at the 12th Loch at 7pm

Thursday 17th

Senior Football Championship v Ballymun in Parnell Park at 6.45pm

Sunday 20th. Minor Hurling v Round Towers in Clondalkin at 11am.

Then there is Feile na Gael on Saturday when we host Cuala, Raheny and Thomas Davis. The first games start at 1030 and continue at 1130 and 1245. Lunch is at 1.30 and the semi-finals begin at 3.30. You will be most welcome and a few more volunteers (did you know that this is ‘ National Volunteering Week’ – but we do that every single week) are always welcome. We paid a surprised visit to the Juvenile Room last Saturday. Elaine, you were sadly missed – we have never seen Alan looking so miserable and lonely. The place was going mad – he must have put on an old film or something. Get better soon, Auntie Elaine, that all we could hear them say.

Well have you guessed correctly – the ‘7’ have become the mighty ‘12’ – are you one of them?

Frank and Greg

Ps we are starting the week with ‘chicken ahhhhh la pasta for the senior footballers at about 8.45pm. There maybe will be a bit left over for the camogie girls after their training- so lads come in early and please don’t go home empty, otherwise them mentors will be so, so sad. Tis a good job that the JETs are not training because they never leave without certifying that they are our best customers.
