I have to inform you all that the club has been made aware of incidents that have occurred which run the risk of bringing the good name of Erin's Isle GAA Club into disrepute.
We have been informed that one or more persons have, in recent weeks, gone knocking on doors and calling into pubs in the Finglas and neighbouring areas purporting to be collecting money for Erin's Isle. The individual or group of individuals have been producing forged letter(s), supposedly from a club mentor, suggesting that they are authorised collectors for a bogus fundraising event(s).
The club wish to advise you all that this is absolutely and categorically UNAUTHORISED and not approved in any way shape or form by the Executive, Fixtures or Juvenile Committees of Erin's Isle or any of its members.
We would ask that all members advise parents, family and neighbours that we are not fundraising in this manner. Any official club fundraising will be well advertised, primarily here on the club website. We appreciate the support that we receive from the local community and do not want people to be deceived in this way, nor do we want the club's name brought into disrepute.
If you do happen to come in contact with the individual or group of individuals involved, please report this immediately to club officials and An Garda Síochána where it's felt necessary.
Is mise, le meas,
Mairéad Maguire
Club Secretary
